Where To Get

Where to get ingredients, tools, and other items

Ingredients

  • EM•1: EMRO USA (North America and Hawaii), EMRO (globally, on their website, see "Your Local").
  • Blackstrap molasses: your local grocery store may carry blackstrap molasses. Make sure it is Unsulfured Blackstrap Molasses (any brand is okay, and it does not have to be organic). More on blackstrap molasses >
  • Sea salt: any cheap sea salt should do (do not use table salt or iodized salt). More info on sea salt >
  • Wheat bran: Use animal-feed grade wheat bran which costs less than food grade wheat bran. Search for a local animal feed supply store (such as an Agway). If buying food grade wheat bran (since it's used to make muffins and other baked goods), try finding a store where it is sold loose (at $1+ per pound)—in NYC, one such store is Ninth Avenue International Foods, 543 9th Ave [map] (40th & 41st St, across the street from PABT). Avoid packaged wheat bran since they may cost $2–$4/lb. More info on wheat bran >
  • Rice bran: as an alternative to wheat bran, also search for a local animal feed supply store (such as an Agway)—may be more expensive then wheat bran.
  • Coffee chaff: usually free from coffee roasters since it's considered a waste produced during the coffee been roasting process. If your local coffee shop does not roast their own coffee beans, they may be able to direct you to a coffee roaster. More info on coffee chaff >
